Part 5--Wednesday Update
Sarah Grace is such a joy. We can't wait for all of you to meet her. She has so much personality and it's showing more as she gets settled with us. She is quick to smile and today had her first out-loud laugh (when I tickled her tummy). We are learning so much about her habits and her likes/dislikes - loves corn, tolerates peas, loves teething biscuits, loves bananas, kicks when she is sleepy, loves her thumb (We'll break that habit later, but right now she can do whatever comforts her during the transition:) ), loves various textures, loves to make sounds with her mouth. She is a big eater. She loves afternoon an evening time the most. She's a good sleeper. She stares intently at everything and her little mind is active.
We are working on teaching her to clap. When she learns new skills successfully she smiles at us. We are trying to give her plenty of tummy time so she can work on crawling, but she just rolls over to her back.
We know that the bonding process will be long, but it is going so smoothly so far. This has been one of our major prayer requests and God is answering it. She reaches out for both of us and follows us with her eyes. She is very cuddly with us. She is really a very flexible baby. With all the changes that she has undergone in the last 48 hours, she is remarkably happy and well-adjusted.
This morning we went to the zoo, but she slept the whole time. This evening, we are going to McDonalds and to explore the city streets around us. Chongqing is a modern, growing city. Our hotel is attached to a 7-story mall with very expensive stores. The city has a lot of growing business that is bringing more prosperity to the area.
We are so grateful that Karen (Angie's aunt) is with us. We don't know how we'd make it without her. She anticipates our every need - photographer, backpack, carrier, etc. At Wal-Mart yesterday, Sarah Grace slept on her shoulder the whole time while we bought supplies. By the way, we bought 1 stroller, 2 cans of formula, 15 jars of baby food, lots of snacks for Andy & I and 54 diapers for $52. I think I should stock up before we come home.
There are 10 families in our group and all the babies are beautiful. The families are nice and it's fun to get to know them. One father in the group is a pediatrician so it is nice to have someone to go to for medical questions. Our in-country guides are wonderful and answer every question we have. Thanks to them, every day goes smoothly.
We have our officcial adoption certificate now and will get Sarah Grace's passport on Friday.
Friday afternoon, we will fly to our last stop - Guangzhou. In Guangzhou, we will have Sarah Grace's medical exam and our U.S. Consulate appointment. In Guangzhou, we will hopefully have access to computers that will allow us to post pictures. Then, in just 9 days, we'll be back home again in Indiana.
Tomorrow, we will take a trip to the orphanage. We are anxious to meet and thank the people who have taken such good care of our daughter. It may be an emotional trip for her and for us, but we know that we want to go so that we will have stories and pictures of her orpahange when she is older. It will be a 2-hour bus ride in the countryside.
In summary, God is good and Sarah Grace is wonderful. We look forward to seeing all of you soon! We love you.

Angie, Andy, and Sarah Grace,
Sounds like things are going really well there for all of you which is great news! Sarah is gorgeous, but I knew that already. By the way, if you figure out how to cure the thumb-sucking habit, PLEASE let me know because my 2 year old Fulinger, Carly, is also a big thumb-sucker.
I am sending many prayers for a wonderful trip to the orphanage tomorrow. I guess that's partly selfish on my part as I really am hoping you will get to see the First Hugs nannies and babies in action. But in any case, I am eager to read about your trip. It's an easy drive with lots of really beautiful scenery. Relax and enjoy and soak it all in.
Best wishes,
Julianne
SARAH GRACE,
Your great gramma and your great
aunt Karen both sucked their thumbs and look what we turned
out to be. If it satisfies you
go right on. Besides I think it
looks cute. Both pictures we
have are beautiful. Will be so
glad to have some more pictures.
Love to all of you
Mom, Gramma, GG

Angie, Andy & Sarah Grace -
It was good to hear from you and all the ways you're learning about Sarah Grace. I enlarged the picture of her with her thumb in her mouth and have it having at my desk. It looks like she's looking right at me.
There are many worse things than sucking a thumb -- at least she keeps it clean!!
I hope you have a good trip to the orphanage. Give her nannie a big hug for me.
Love you all.
Grandma Wanda
Wiggins family:
We are so thrilled that your trip is going so well and that Sarah Grace is adjusting marvelously! I know you're both thrilled to hold her in your arms! Can't wait until Sarah Grace and Jenna can have a "play date"!
Love,
David, Gaye Lynn & Jenna

Hi all,
This web site is very nice; it’s just amazing how everyone can keep up on your entire events as the days go by. I’m enjoying it myself. I guess for me the wait is a little tougher because Karen and I are so far apart and even with a phone that we talk on now and then you just can’t keep from worrying a little bit. So Karen you continue to have fun and give the Wiggins all the help they need but the truth is I’ll be glad when you’re back home with me. Baseball has kept me busy so the days are going by fast but not fast enough. Andy, Angie and Sarah I’m looking forward to see you also. See you soon.
Curt.
Angie, Andy, and Sarah Grace,
Greetings from Iowa! I am so thankful to be able to read this blog! My heart aches to be with you, Ang, as you experience motherhood! Of all things, we are passing thru Indy tomorrow (friday, July 22)so we will think of you and pray for your family as we do! Can't wait to talk to you!

We are so glad that you all are doing so well. Sarah Grace, I printed out your picture for G&G Wiggins. Grandma has shown it proudly to all of her friends. Can't wait to see you all.

The Wiggins Clan has certainly grown! ! !
So happy about the good things happening to you all. It sounds like you are having a wonderful time.
We can't wait until you all are safely back in Indiana, but we hope you enjoy every moment while you are in China with Sarah Grace.
I know "she" is happily showing off where she was born, but she is also anxious to come to America, her new home.
We send our prayers & thoughts across the ocean.

Sarah Grace:
I talked to your mommy last night and you were sleeping well. I was so glad to hear her voice. I bet your daddy was watching you sleep while mommy was talking. I heard you cry out and your mommy had to go right then. What a great gift you are. Wish you were here now but I can wait one more week.
Love,
Aunt Teresa
